A webpage may seem like any other printed page, but in reality it is more like a puzzle.

Webpages are made up of blocks of text, images, colors, formatting, multimedia effects, sounds and other bits and pieces. And all these little pieces are not necessarily stored in the same place. So your web browser’s job is to get all these pieces and reassemble them, so that you can view the finished product.

If you think this sounds like a lot of work, you’re right. It is a lot of work for your browser.
